A critical skill of leadership and engagement is the ability to deliver a concise and compelling message in a way that engages its audience and excites their imagination. Bite-Sized Stories builds capability and comfort in articulating a concise concept, pitch or point of view.
In this Studio we draw on the arts of performance making, of embodying a fluid text and engaging an audience. It carries a twin emphasis – on creating simple structures for short presentations, and on their performance. Getting good at focused, concise presentations like this is a strong foundation from which to extend and add more interactive forms of organisational conversation.
For this Studio, the InPlay consultant (or Mentor) works alongside a theatre practitioner who is a specialist in making, interpreting and presenting stories (in theatre, they have the title Dramaturg). We explore the structure and momentum of concise, well-crafted stories, and what it takes to deliver them with a sense of presence and dynamism.
What you can expect:
- We will examine very compressed forms of storytelling that deliver immediate impact. These are drawn from age-old traditions as well as world leading story makers.
- We’ll help you to frame your current business situations and issues in these precise terms, structured to convince and influence.
- You will put your story ‘on the stage’ – we will help you to use your voice and body to best effect in front of an audience.
- The end of the Studio is just the beginning. We will give you strategies to sharpen the text and continue to evolve your performance.
Beyond the Studio, we will give you pathways for practicing your craft, of distilling key messages and presenting them with gravity and conviction.
This Studio can be presented as one full-day session or over two half days. Or, as with all of our curriculum modules, we can draw on this Studio content to create one or more shorter, express sessions for your team, diving into elements of Bite-Sized Stories, providing familiarisation, inspiration and ideas to take forward.
