Theatre Practitioner, Actor, Improvised Theatre Specialist – Co-presenting: ‘In The Moment – improvising and adapting as events unfold’

Daniel studied acting and physical theatre at the ATYP and Actors Centre Australia. He also studied under Keith Johnstone at the first International Improvisation Summer School in Calgary, Canada. He has been performing for over 25 years specialising in improvised theatre and TV. He has appeared regularly at the Belvoir St Theatre, Enmore Theatre, New Theatre, and the Old Fitzroy Theatre.

Daniel and his team claimed victory in the 2001 Improv World Cup representing Australia at the Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival Montreal, Canada. The same year he played in the Theatresports World Domination Tournament in Atlanta, USA, claiming second place in a solo effort for Australia. Daniel also starred on the hit TV comedy Thank God You’re Here as a leading ensemble member for all four seasons of the show.

Daniel has appeared in many festival shows including the hit improv comedy 160 Characters, which played at all of the major Australian comedy festivals and Singapore International Arts Festival. He has toured Australia and New Zealand with The Umbilical Brothers, and has performed in numerous theatre productions. Daniel’s television credits include roles on Packed To The Rafters, Home and Away, LibrariansRakeJestersThe Chasers War on EverythingCNNNN, and the comedy MicroNation.

Daniel has been teaching and performing improvisation and physical theatre in schools around Australia for over 20 years. He also teaches physical theatre and improvisation at the Actors Centre Australia, Screenwise, AADA, TAFE and specialist classes for universities and colleges nationally. Daniel is also a regular performer at the Art Gallery of NSW.

Daniel has collaborated with Tony Weir, to develop InPlay Arts’ workshops on improvisation.
