Monique Dykstra

Theatre Practitioner, Actor, Improvised Theatre Specialist

Monique Dykstra studied at the Actors Centre in Sydney, with Shakespeare & Company in the United States and studied improvisation with Keith Johnstone in Canada. She began performing with Theatresports in Sydney at Belvoir St Theatre in 1995.

Monique has performed extensively for stage and screen. Her theatre work includes productions of A Midsummer Nights Dream, Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Marriage Wreckers and many improvised productions at both Belvoir St and Enmore Theatres.

Her other work includes The Chaser, All Saints, Chandon Pictures, Packed to the Rafters, tv commercials, voiceovers and the film Superman Returns. Monique starred in the sell-out show 160 Characters, touring nationally and internationally, playing the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Adelaide Festival and Singapore International Arts Festival.

Monique has devised work for several cultural institutions including National Gallery Australia, Australian Museum and Australian National Maritime Museum. She is a regular performer at the Art Gallery NSW and has taught in schools around Australia, the Actors Centre, ATYP and TAFE NSW.

Monique has worked for many years in the corporate world as a performer and trainer. Her work includes large scale events, product launches, role plays and team building- communication training. She has travelled all across Australia performing and teaching at schools with the company she shares with Daniel Cordeaux, Open Stage Productions. Monique and Daniel are also regular performers at the NSW Art Gallery Sydney.

Monique has collaborated with Tony Weir, to develop InPlay Arts’ workshops on improvisation.
